Five finger shoes

Aren't these the craziest shoes? The couple wearing them told me they're really comfortable, and Jan told me what they're called. I might just have to try a pair sometime.

The joy of spring

Everywhere I went I saw cherry blossoms and blue skies with fluffy clouds, and here I had a chance to photograph them together. So beautiful, and so welcome!

Painting the oars

Getting closer to having the Bark River back in the water. The boat gleams with new white paint, and soon the oars will too. It's been a lot of work -- and all I've done is take a few pictures!

Looking good

John has been working hard on the Bark River in the garage, and today it was warm enough to move it outside to start painting it. Maybe we'll be rowing together soon!

Tenacious oak leaves

This is the same little oak tree downtown that I showed on February 18th -- and it STILL retains a lot of its leaves. I think most of the other oaks on the island are finally bare. It's funny how we don't notice these things until we deliberately make a point of looking. (And there are beginning to be more people on the street, too, even though the temperatures are still mostly in the 40s.)

Goofy car

It has a chain drive like a bicycle, but Wendy says it's actually registered as a motorcycle. She says it goes up to 40 mph, "but you don't really feel safe going that fast," so 35 mph is probably better. She's asking $1750 for it. It's a one-seater and there's not really room for more than a loaf of bread and a quart of milk. Oh, and it's all-electric.

Ramona's garden

Now the computer refuses to open my "short movie" so I'll replace it with this photo from the same beautiful little garden behind the Little Store. It will soon be filled with bluebells.
