No part of Central Park is truly "natural" -- every bit of it was planned and designed -- but some parts were designed to look natural. This is one of them. The rock outcropping was there and was deliberately left in place, and all of the plantings were chosen and placed for effect. The bench in the foreground is one of over 9000 in the park.
